I recently built this fireplace feature wall. It has an inset electric fireplace and tv mounted above it.
This project added warmth and architectural interest to our master bedroom.
If you are considering this project you have a few things to round up in the planning phases.

First you need to choose your location. I used chalk to sketch out where I would place everything. Look for an area where you will have an outlet inside if possible or very close by.

I’m a visual person so I measured again and taped it out floor to ceiling. This location was ideal because of the outlet. The tv and fireplace plugs can reach the outlet internally without visible cords.
Next, you’ll want to order the electric fireplace ahead of time. I bought ours a week in advance.

I chose the 50 inch fireplace, which is very close visually to the size of the TV. This one has different light settings and temperature settings with the ease of a remote.
I love to use it even when it’s not putting off heat just for the coziness it brings to our room.

I taped out the 50” fireplace as well to make sure it all looked good before building. The plans allow for adjustments- you can install the fireplace higher up if you wish.

This is mock up from the Ana White plan. I’ve used her designs for my recent Adirondack chairs and the William Sonoma knock off chicken coop that I built during COVID. I find them to be pretty good guides with a few areas you’ll need to figure out, customize or tweak.
If you have Pinterest this is the link for her plans https://pin.it/3Hi9QgplJ. I’d recommend printing off cut lists and information to familiarizes yourself with the project ahead of time.

If you don’t already have a tv to mount any flat screen tv would work. We purchased this 48” smart tv. My affiliate link for it is here https://amzn.to/3F9RYC1

It’s helps to have your tv mount during the planning stages so you know where to place the supports. We used a tilt mount – here’s my affiliate link https://amzn.to/4bAvSo8
The Ana White plans are for a shiplap fireplace, but you can finish it in many different ways.

These are screenshots from Pinterest. This one uses vertical shiplap on the upper portion and a concrete like lower.

This one is beautiful- using all vertical shiplap.

Loved this version with tile lower and shiplap upper.
That’s your final decision…how do you want to wrap it once framed? Explore Instagram and Pinterest to find one that you love!
