Kitchen Island Pendants

Our 2008 oak kitchen when we moved in. I painted the ceiling, the cabinets and replaced hardware. I removed the microwave and added a pretty range hood instead.

There was still this perplexing box over the island with recessed lighting in it. It must have been considered decorative at some point in time…. but no longer!

There was virtually no structural purpose so I did some demo then handed over the job. It was essentially a 2×4 and plywood structure covered in drywall. My electrician took down the rest of the plywood frame and prewired for new pendant lights.

In lieu of patching the hole with drywall I decided to add stained wood planks.

I had some scrap wood painted in Iron Ore that I used to frame it out and cover drywall damage. I may paint the frame white but for now I’m living with it.

I searched far and wide for new pendants. I wanted timeless glass globes that wouldn’t feel heavy or obstruct the views. After looking online for hours I found seeded glass globes with blackened brass hardware that were absolutely PERFECT.

Isn’t this light gorgeous? Seeded glass and black makes me soon! I used my Chase Freedom credit card points to pay for one of the lights so it’s as if one was free. Or at least I tell myself that 🤣

I’m in love with the new pendants and the only thing that would make them better is a dimmer switch!!! I love dimming the lights and my husband is my go to for dimmer switches. I’m picking up a switch and he’s about to have a job.

If you have been looking for new pendant lights look no further. These are gorgeous in person!!! Here is my affiliate link for these lights https://amzn.to/2XUHEoG.

Cheers- Kristen
