How to clean upholstery

I recently wanted to clean our upholstered dining chairs that had some light staining.

Our daughter is getting married and we will have lots of company in bound. I wanted to clean everything possible that couldn’t go into the washing machine.

We have a carpet cleaner with an upholstery attachment but I wasn’t thrilled with the results in the past.

Enter the very portable and easy to use Little Green Bissell. My affiliate link for this fantastic lil machine is https://amzn.to/3GTDYgI

There’s a cordless version but I didn’t choose that one. The length of the cord was convenient enough to compete a project then move to the next one.

I used hot water and the bissell fluid to clean 10 dining chairs, a couch and 2 swivel chairs this week alone.

My first project ended up being our white Pottery Barn couch. There was some staining along the side and various spots on the couch.

I removed all of the cushions then vacuumed/lint rolled them. I pretreated all spots with Folex which you can find here https://amzn.to/42URtoL

“THE SOLUTION TO YOUR STAIN – FOLEX removes grease, ink, red wine, kid & pet accidents, coffee, blood, food, cosmetics, dirt & most old stains. It works on upholstery, carpets & other colorfast materials that can be safely cleaned with water” as the product was described on Amazon.

Folex works well on old stains – spray, agitate and blot. It also worked well as a pretreat for my upholstery!!!

The low spots from the dogs rubbing on the side of the couch are gone!

I had spilled coffee on one cushion a year ago. I treated it with Folex then and you can’t tell!

We have a pair of blue swivel chairs and this one in particular has been through it!!!

The pink in the tufted back of the chair came out and the seat cover looks perfect again!!!

I even used the green machine to clean some spots off the white curtains vs taking them down.

I’m heading out to visit my daughter in Kentucky and I packed my new little friend to clean her couches.

If you don’t have a portable upholstery cleaner I highly recommend!!!

And if you don’t already keep Folex in your house, I suggest adding it to your cleaning supplies. It’s a miracle worker.

Cheers – Kristen
