BEDROOM #1 MAKEOVER

Welcome to the upper level of the house.  We will check in with the kids rooms and kids bathroom starting in this bedroom first.  Before we even moved my 2nd daughter started pinning ideas on Pinterest for her new room. She had very specific ideas about what she wanted and it comforted her to plan out her new refuge.

This is what her room looked like when we moved in. Down came the valance and in came her furniture.

K’s BEDROOM

✅all white bedding

✅gray throw pillows

✅painted walls MOONSHINE

✅herringbone wood accent wall

✅oversized mirror

✅string lights

✅light blocking curtains

This was the FIRST room completed in the whole house. During the first 48 hours of move-in I unpacked the entire house. It helped to have 3 teens and they unpacked their spaces on their own.

Our soon-to-be-senior was less-than-happy about the relocation. We literally moved in a week before school started so I wanted the kids rooms to be a safe, comforting space. The boys had little to no wishes other then to be unpacked (and move back). Our girl had more on her list than just unpacking.  Prior to the actual move we had purchased the new bedding and pillows for her room.

Moonshine by Benjamin Moore was out overall wall color in Florida and a comfort color for us. She wanted the same hue here in Virginia so on the 3rd day after move in we painted 3 of her walls in Moonshine. It was easy to get started painting because I brought a couple gallons with me!!!

Thank you to Kirkland’s for this oversized mirror. We had considered building one but their price was better than a DIY and its HUGE.

Me standing in front of the bed puts it in perspective!!!  That mirror is giant.

My husband and daughter got 4×8’boards ripped at lowes and then she stained all of the strips.  Together we cut and hammered in every plank to create a herringbone wall.  There’s a blog going into the herringbone accent wall in more detail in the archieve.

When the accent wall was done we had been in the house 5 days. I was exhausted, dehydrated and suffering from a weeklong migraine. Off to the ER for a migraine cocktail and I was back in action again. I don’t ever want to move again.

Now she’s pinning, plotting and planning her dorm room at FSU. Trust me it is specific and that’s a whole ‘nother check list!!!
