DIY Dog Snood

Greta has been struggling with a hot spot under her collar in the front and on her chest.

She recently had all of the fur shaved at the vet and went through a course of antibiotics, but she’s back at it again.

I decided to make her a snood that was longer in the front to cover the area. I’m hoping she won’t be able to lick it with that barrier there.

I had some left over fleece which is an easy fabric to work with because you don’t have to hem the edges.

I used her collar to determine the width a folded the fabric in half to match it and added 2”. I held it up to see how much of the back of her neck I wanted to cover then cut a curved line to make the front longer.

I used a lid to draw my scallop.

Using sharp scissors I cut out the scallop design.

This is how it would look from the front.

I used my sewing machine for a straight stitch then went over it with a zig zag stitch since fleece has some stretch. You could hand sew this if you don’t have a sewing machine. Turn it right side out to hide the seam.

I got out some yard and cut 9 pieces to tie and crunch the neck.

I braided the yarn and sprayed the whole snood with Sugar Cookie cologne. My affiliate link for the cologne is here https://amzn.to/3Z0bmsI

I snuck it over her head while she was eating and tied the yarn in the back to scrunch it. A little extra detail that’s unnecessary but cute.

She looks good, smells good now and she can’t lick.

Birds Eye view of the scalloped snood and her pearls. I also made the “pearls” for both of our female dogs.

Time will tell if the scalloped snood stops the hot spot🤞

Looking stylish, Greta girl!

Cheers- Kristen
