I love to give personalized items and wanted to make some gifts for our grandson due next month.
Hand embroidery makes something ordinary extra special and is quite easy to do!
I bought bibs and blankets to embroider.
Gather supplies

•disappearing ink marking pen like this https://amzn.to/3M9Lm6M
•Scissors or thread snippers like these https://amzn.to/4cpXHyl

I found a stitch tutorial on you tube. She shared a simple way to trace fonts if you aren’t comfortable free handing it. Check out her video here- I think she does an excellent job showing you how to stitch- https://youtu.be/gy-2wWdpkUE?si=VdjPWg00XTg-0bR3
Dafont.com shows lots of free fonts as the you tube video shared. You type in the name and then play around until you find what you like.
You can free hand the name in your handwriting or even trace it.
I used my own handwriting for this example and for most of the personalizations.
TIP-Cursive fonts are the easiest to connect your stitches. You can go under to the next letter somewhat invisibly if your fabric is dark.
Enlarge the name to the desired size. Turn the brightness up and go to a darker room then trace using your washable pen.
You can use tape on the end of the yarn to thread the needle. It’s easier to stitch upside down away from you.
Stitch along the writing going back to cross t’s over top and go under where you don’t want bulk.
The larger the writing the faster it goes.
The smaller the writing the smaller the yarn you want to use. Choose wider spacing with your font to make it easier to read.
I find this to be very relaxing and so portable. You don’t need any equipment- just write with the washable marking pen and stitch wherever you are.
Must warn you…this is so addictive! I want to put names on allllll of the things now!
Happy lettering – Kristen
